The original Château was built by Seigneur Baude de Peyron in the 16th century. Remodeled in the 18th and 19th centuries. A remarkable greenhouse was designed by Gustave EIFFEL, the man who created the tower that bears his name in Paris. Yves and Stephanie Vatelot, purchased REIGNAC in 1990 and have worked continuously ever since to restore the state to its former glory while introducing numerous innovations. The very talented Michel Rolland is their consulting oenologist.

** Tasted  7 01 2021 91/100 ** 2018 VINTAGE  91/100 Dark-fruit and woody notes with some vanilla. It’s medium-bodied with a juicy, savory palate. Mellow with tight tannins and a clean finish, showing  some length. 100% merlot. Why wait? Drink or hold.

Bud thinning, leaf thinning on the east-facing side, bunch thinning once the bunch has become compact, further bunch thinning at the peak colorchange, leaf thinning on both east and west-facing sides as well as more bunch thinning 5 weeks before harvesting Grapes are hand-picked into small crates.

Cold maceration (6°C) for 10 days prior to fermentation. Fermented for 30 days in new oak barrels using the patented Vatelot method, including post-fermentation maceration. The wine is then run off into new barrels for malolactic fermentation.

100% new oak barrels, stirring the lees in the barrels stacked using the Oxoline system.
