PRODUCER NOTE
Domaine de La Brossette is a certified organic estate located in Touraine and owned by the Delaunay family. They have three hectares of organic vineyards, planted with Gamay and Cabernet Franc, from which they produce a pale rosé and a red.
VINEYARDS
The estate is situated on the bank of the Cher Valley, 50 kilometres east of Tours near the famous Château de Chenonceau. The vines are Guyot-trained and planted on a mixture of clay and sandy soils.
VINTAGE
The 2018 vintage in the Loire was excellent. Unlike previous vintages, the vines were spared from hail and frost. High temperatures, sunshine and a lack of rain in July and August accelerated the ripening. The quality and quantity of grapes was outstanding across the region.
VINIFICATION
Individual grapes underwent semi-carbonic maceration over a period of eight days before alcoholic fermentation took place at controlled temperatures between 25-28°C. The grapes were pressed with a pneumatic press and malolactic fermentation occurred at 22°C. The wine was then blended and aged on fine lees prior to bottling.
TASTING NOTES
Bright ruby-red in colour, this wine has aromas of fresh red fruits and chalky mineral notes. The palate is beautifully balanced with silky tannins, a supple texture and bright, precise fruit flavours.
