Humberto Canale Estate Pinot Noir 2020
£12.94
PRODUCT NOTE
Vineyard: The first winery in Patagonia to be certified as sustainable, Humberto Canale still operate today with the same values as when Guillermo Barzi’s uncle planted the vines in 1914. Providing work and housing for local residents they pride themselves on to this day being an authentic family owned winery with real family values. The cooler climate of Pategonia allows fruit to ripen slowly and retain an acidity not normally associated with the new world and one that yields wines of superb complexity and elegance. These vineyards are located in in General Roca, Alto Valle del Río Negro, Patagonia. Yields are low at 8.000 Kgs per hectare and the harvest is carried out in mid-March. The berries are carefully handpicked in small containers and delivered to the winery, just 1 km from the vineyard.
Vinification: Hand picked grapes are pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks. 15 to 20% of the wine is then aged in American and French oak casks for 7 months, before being bottled and aged for 6 months before its release.
