This is a wine with wonderful purity and fine structure. Black fruit, leather and spice characters dominate.
Lavaux St Jacques is situated at the beginning of the split of Combe de Lavaux, which faces south. ‘La Combe’ is an ancient evacuation canal. There are similarities between the premier cru soils (for example Lavaux St Jacques) and the Grands Crus situated on the slope (Chambertin, Mazis Chambertin…).
This wine is fermented in vats for 3-4 weeks and aged 18-20 months in oak barrels before bottling.
